Diageo Global Travel introduces ninth and final Game of Thrones limited edition

Diageo Global Travel and HBO have introduced the final limited edition in the Game of Thrones whisky collection: Six Kingdoms – Mortlach Single Malt Scotch Whisky Aged 15 Years. It will be available in limited quantities at selected airports and specialist retailers from December at around £110 (US$140/€125) for 70cl.

Inspired by the finale of the HBO series, the ninth and final bottling in the collection pays tribute to the fate of Westeros at the conclusion of the show’s climactic battle for the Iron Throne.

Encased in a metallic gold cannister, the design features an intricate pen and ink drawing of the three-eyed raven, seen throughout the eight seasons of the Game of Thrones series. The Six Kingdoms packaging pays homage to the independence of the North after the final season, leaving a reconfigured landscape known as The Six Kingdoms (from seven previously).

“Eight fantastic Scotches toasted the coming of the final season of the show, and we now look back on the most captivating television show of all time and raise a ninth glass in celebration,” said HBO Vice President Licensing & Retail Jeff Peters.

Mortlach Single Malt Scotch Whisky Aged 15 Years has been matured in first-fill sherry-seasoned casks and finished in American Oak ex-bourbon casks. The whisky imparts “a bold, smooth taste with notes of vanilla and spice,” said the brand owner.

Diageo Global Travel Marketing and Innovation Director Anna MacDonald said: “The addition of a liquid as rare and sought after as this is a wonderful offering for our travelling consumers. A final homage to one of the most prolific series of all time, Six Kingdoms brings the collection to a close and we’re confident this latest edition will delight our single malt fans, just as the existing eight variants have done.”

The Game of Thrones collection was inspired by the HBO fantasy series which concluded this year

As reported, last month Diageo Global Travel released two other Game of Thrones-inspired limited-edition Scotch whiskies: Johnnie Walker A Song of Ice and Johnnie Walker A Song of Fire.
