“Destination dining defined”: SSP America unveils The Manufactory Food Hall at San Francisco International

USA. SSP America has opened multi-restaurant food hall The Manufactory at San Francisco International Airport.

The 3,241sq ft site is located in Boarding Area A of the International Terminal. It is modelled on the Tartine Manufactory in San Francisco’s Mission district and includes branches of Tartine Bakery, Tacos Cala and Kin Khao Thai Eatery, as well as a bar.

Hall of fame: The impressive new Manufactory showcases some of San Francisco’s top restaurants.

The Manufactory is a collaboration between SSP America and the four San Francisco chefs whose restaurants now feature in the hall: Chad Robertson and Elisabeth Prueitt of Tartine Bakery, Pim Techamuanvivit of Kin Khao, and Gabriela Cámara of Cala.

Guests can visit a “foodie factory” where they choose dishes from the different stations. The bar at The Manufactory includes a cocktail list developed by mixologist Julian Cox as well as regional wines and beers. It also serves small plates from the onsite restaurants.

The striking new site offers substantial takeaway options.

Tartine Bakey, founded in 2002, serves bread and pastries including croissants, scones, “seasonal hand pies”, sandwiches including open smørrebrød sandwiches, and salads.

Tacos Cala offers “sophisticated dishes with deep resonating flavours” including tacos, tortas, quesadillas, and salads.

Pim Techamuanvivit was awarded a Michelin star at her original Kin Khao Thai Eatery. Her dishes at this outlet will include crispy fried-chicken sandwiches, Khao Soi Northern-style chicken curry, salads, noodle soups and takeaway boxes of fried chicken and tofu.

SSP America Vice President Business Development Paul Loupakos said: “[This] promises more than a memorable experience. The Manufactory brings an exceptional, elevated dining experience driven by four of the Bay Area’s hottest-trending, most prominent and successful local chefs. The Manufactory Food Hall is destination dining defined.”

Tacos Cala says it serves “upmarket Mexican cuisine and craft cocktails served in a stylish, industrial space”.

SSP America is a division of SSP Group, which serves about a million passengers daily in 33 countries, including more than 2,500 outlets across 140 airports and 280 rail stations.
