Delhi Duty Free promotes Ashish Chopra to Deputy Chief Executive

INDIA. Delhi Duty Free Services has appointed Chief Operating Officer Ashish Chopra to the role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. The marketing department will also now report to Chopra, with other functions remaining unchanged.

Chopra joined Delhi Duty Free as Head of Purchasing in December 2013. He was promoted to the then newly created position of COO in April 2017. This was “in response to the success that he brought to the Head of Purchasing role,” said the company.

Ashish Chopra: Vital contribution to Delhi Duty Free’s strong growth in recent years

Delhi Duty Free CEO Philip Eckles said that Chopra “has continued to demonstrate his commitment to DDFS through his leadership of the retail team, which has contributed greatly to the success of Delhi Duty Free in recent years.”

Eckles added: “This promotion is greatly deserved, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with Ashish in his new role.”

As reported, Delhi Duty Free Services (DDFS) recently inaugurated an elegant and engaging new walk-through departures store at Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 3. The completion of the final phase of the departures project follows the opening last year of an upgraded and refurbished arrivals walk-through duty free environment. The company has delivered strong double-digit sales growth in recent years, well ahead of traffic increases at the airport.
