The Chinese Year of the Ox is, according to Davidoff, characterised by “diligence, dependability, strength and determination”.

Oettinger Davidoff Chief Marketing Officer Edward Simon said: “It is with great pride that we present this ninth instalment of a limited edition range of Davidoff products celebrating the Chinese New Year as they have become highly sought after collectable items around the world.

“To salute aficionados born in the Year of the Ox, we sought to translate their characteristics into a stout and majestic cigar experience.”

The Year of the Ox cigar, which is a Gordo format, offers both sweet and spicy notes. The cigar filler is a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos, with dark brown Dominican wrapper and Ecuadorian binder.

Limited to 13,900 pieces worldwide, Year of the Ox is presented in a ten-piece box featuring red lacquer, gold accents and a simple icon representing the horns of an ox.

The collection’s pipe tobacco comes in a red lacquered tin. The blend of Black Cavendish and selected Virginia tobaccos from China, India and Malawi is influenced by Asian flavors, with hints of burley, orchid and anise. Each tin is numbered and availability is limited to 4,500 pieces globally.

The 200 Year of the Ox accessories sets include a Davidoff jet flame lighter, double blade cutter and ashtray.

The Davidoff Year of the Ox collection is available at selected retailers and flagship stores from this month (November). The pipe tobacco is not available in the US.
