USA. Dallas Fort Worth International has been named Airport of the Year 2019 by Air Transport World, a media brand serving the global airline and commercial air transport industry.
The award, which will be presented formally on 26 March, recognises the Texas hub’s “innovation in providing a world-class customer experience, global leadership in sustainability, cost-effective and efficient operations, excellent partnership with airlines and collaboration with local communities,” said the airport in a statement.
Dallas Fort Worth CEO Sean Donohue said: “It’s an honour to be recognised … and it’s a credit to the nearly 2,000 employees of DFW Airport who continually go above and beyond to take care of customers, address the needs of stakeholders and engage with our surrounding communities.”

On 26-27 June 2019 the airport will host The Moodie Davitt Report’s annual FAB Conference and Awards, the only event dedicated to the travel retail industry’s fast-growing and increasingly lucrative food & beverage sector.

Dallas Fort Worth expects to serve almost 200,000 customers per day this year and process nearly 1,900 flights per day. Last year, it announced 29 new destinations, nine additional international flights and completed a $2 billion (£1.5 billion) renovation of three historic terminals.
The airport has been carbon-neutral for three successive years and claims to be the largest such airport in the world.
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said: “This honour is yet another major acknowledgement that DFW airport is a growth engine for Dallas and all our regional partners. I may be biased but I think this is the best international airport in the United States.”

Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price said: “The recognition of DFW as Airport of the Year demonstrates how the airport and our region can achieve success on a global scale. The airport Board of Directors and the DFW team laid out a strategic plan several years ago … and they have delivered their vision for transforming travel.”
