CPI to offer specialist airport commercial programmes for a post-COVID world

AUSTRALIA. Specialist airport commercial planning consultancy CPI is offering two commercially focused professional development programmes designed to enable airports to upskill their commercial teams in line with the global traffic recovery.

Because of the upturn in travel, many airports have recruited staff from beyond the sector or promoted them internally to commercial, planning, or development teams, CPI noted.

CPI’s development and management courses aim to assist these airports by providing intensive, specialised, commercially focused professional development courses that will educate and support the new team members.

CPI Managing Director Susan Gray said, “We’ve trained many hundreds of airport executives. We are pragmatic. We are honest. And we promise a collaborative, interesting and valuable few days that will leave attendees energised and with both strategic and tactical insights that they can immediately apply in their day-to-day roles.”

CPI provides an in-depth examination of the non-aeronautical business of airports. Gray explained: “We understand the importance of the relationship between delivering a great customer experience and optimising commercial revenue – while delivering a seamless experience to the passenger. Now, more than ever, this is vitally important as airports seek to address both short-term challenges and simultaneously plan for the future.”

Dedicated sessions cover elements such as the fundamentals of planning the optimal commercial development; and which metrics and data to analyse to determine future demand and performance. Others include how to develop and deliver the optimal mix, offer and leasing programme tailored to an airport; and related topics essential for any airport.

The CPI programme also looks to the future and considers how and where airports can innovate to add value and enhance the travellers’ journey.

Gray commented, “We are proud of our ongoing professional relationships with some of the most progressive and forward-thinking airport operating companies and we thoroughly enjoy celebrating their successes and highlighting the challenges we’ve faced together in the commercial sphere.”

For the upcoming August course in Sydney, CPI has enlisted expert subject matter guest speakers including Hassell Aviation Lead and Principal Mark Wolfe and Lagardère Travel Retail Chief Development and Strategy Officer for the Pacific Region Craig Pring.

CPI is also the provider of all content for Airports Council International’s ‘Certificate in Airport Economics – Commercial Management’ online training course. Relaunched in July 2018, it has been completed by over 150 airport professionals across the globe.
