Costa Coffee plans unique outlet for London Heathrow Airport’s new T2

UK. Costa Coffee will open an outlet at London Heathrow Airport’s new Terminal 2 when it opens in June 2014, the company has announced.

The 3,000sq ft store in the international departures area will feature a unique design that the company said will be a clear departure from Costa’s current interiors. Energy efficient lighting, bespoke coffee flower decorative panels and a dedicated iPad station for customers’ use will be among the features of the nearly £1 million investment.

The counter and service points form a central focal point and have been designed to maximise efficiency and speed of service, the company said.

“We are very excited to be bringing a bespoke store design to Terminal 2,” said Costa Head of UK Acquisitions & Estates James Hamilton. “Airport customers are looking for convenience; great coffee and food; and a quick service. By working closely with the Heathrow team we believe that the new store layout will clearly reflect our travelling customer’s needs whilst creating a sleek, modern feel.”

Heathrow Retail Director Muriel Zingraff added: “We’re delighted to be working with Costa on delivering a new innovative store design for Terminal 2. The UKs favourite coffee brand already has nine other outlets within Heathrow and has proven to be very popular amongst our travellers from all over the globe.”
