Concessions International brings Philly-style hoagies to Reagan Airport

USA. Concessions International (CI) has opened a new restaurant called Taylor Gourmet Handcrafted Hoagies at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Located in Terminal B/C near Gate 25, the hoagie (submarine sandwich) shop is a joint venture between CI and MBC Concessions, an Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) partner, and marks the sixth restaurant partnership between the two companies.

The new restaurant is the first of five restaurants CI plans to open in 2015. The remaining four include Chef Geoff’s, Bar Symon and DC Craft at Dulles International Airport, and Spirit 88 at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Taylor Gourmet Handcrafted Hoagies offers a taste of ‘Philly-style’ gourmet sandwiches

Taylor Gourmet is owned by Philadelphia natives Casey Patten and David Mazza who, after relocating to Washington DC, craved their hometown hoagies. They opened their first Washington DC area restaurant in 2008 and have since expanded to nine locations.

Concessions International Chief Executive Officer Donata Russell Major said: “A sandwich is one of the fastest and easiest items for busy travellers to eat while rushing through the airport, but finding a good one is not always so easy. Now Reagan Airport visitors can enjoy one of the best-tasting Philadelphia-style hoagies with fresh ingredients, in-house roasted meats and has no preservatives.”

The Taylor Gourmet menu offers a range of Italian cured deli meats; meatballs; chicken cutlets; a selection of cheeses, white and wheat vegan hoagie rolls; gluten-free wraps; and fresh vegetables as gourmet sandwich ingredients. The restaurant also offers a selection of freshly prepared salads and side dishes including risotto balls, pasta and potato salad, and coleslaw.

Taylor Gourmet Handcrafted Hoagies co-owner Casey Patten commented: “We have enjoyed growing the Taylor Gourmet brand throughout the DC area and are excited to introduce thousands of travellers to what a real Philly-style hoagie should taste like. We are confident that once the uninitiated taste our sandwiches, they will become fans and help spread the word that Taylor Gourmet is about great-tasting food using the freshest ingredients.”
