Compass Box partners with Duty Free Global to drive travel retail growth

London-based blended Scotch whisky maker Compass Box has appointed specialist wines & spirits brand-building partner Duty Free Global (DFG) as its representative in travel retail, effective from 1 May.

Well-regarded industry veteran Maurice Doyle continues to lead the growth of Compass Box since he became CEO in April 2022

The partnership will initially focus on the development of markets in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

Compass Box CEO Maurice Doyle said: “We are thrilled to announce this partnership in travel retail with Duty Free Global. I first directly became involved in travel retail in 2006.

“From experience, I know how, with the right team and plan, travel retail can accelerate the growth of premium spirit brands. International travellers are inherently on a voyage of discovery, and Compass Box is designed for explorers, I am confident Compass Box can drive incremental, profitable growth for travel retail operators by delighting their shoppers.”

Duty Free Global Founder Barry Geoghegan said: “We are so excited to be bringing John Glaser and Compass Box’s vision and innovative approach to Scotch whisky-making to global travel retail settings.

“We have long admired the brand for its creative approach to blended whisky and its artful design, producing some of the most collectible expressions for whisky enthusiasts.”

John Glaser founded Compass Box in 2000; two signature expressions will enter travel retail

Founded by John Glaser in 2000, the blending house has become known for its award-winning whiskies. It will launch two of its signature expressions – The Peat Monster and Orchard House – into travel retail.

Compass Box’s core range of whiskies will soon be available to travellers in Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific

The Peat Monster is a rich, smoky-peaty malt. Bottled at 46% ABV, it is non-chill filtered, and has a natural colour. Its flavours feature a combination of the smokiness of a driftwood fire with more medicinal peat notes. Orchard fruits and rich cask-derived creaminess balance the multi-layered smoke.

The Orchard House is the newest addition to the Compass Box core range of whiskies, which is described as a blend of some of the fruitiest malts Scotland has to offer, including whiskies from the Linkwood and Clynelish distilleries. Bottled at 46% ABV, non chill-filtered with natural colour, Orchard House makes for a pre-dinner malt whether served neat or poured over a large ice cube.
