China Duty Free Group enhances downtown store network with Dalian reopening

CHINA. China Duty Free Group (CDFG) has reopened its upgraded downtown duty free store in Dalian. The retailer said that the city represents an important port and tourist destination in Liaoning Province. The new store, noted CDFG, offers more convenience and comfort in terms of the shopping experience and will “create a new image for the business in Dalian”.

The store is adjacent to Xinghai Square, one of Dalian’s major landmarks and an attraction for many visitors.

The 500sq m store, in the Shahekou district, is adjacent to Xinghai Square, one of Dalian’s major landmarks and a draw for many visitors. The offer includes fragrances & cosmetics, watches & jewellery, sunglasses, bags and other accessories. Brands include Estée Lauder, Lancôme, Shiseido, Clarins, Versace, Timex, Swarovski, Samsonite, Prada, Chloé, Ferragamo, Burberry, Givenchy, Jimmy Choo and many others.

Shoppers make their purchases in the store and can pick them up at the port on departure, with collection points set up in the port’s departures zone.

The upgraded Dalian store covers 500sq m with a strong focus on beauty and fashion.

In making the announcement through The Moodie Davitt Report, CDFG hailed its recent expansion in downtown duty free. As reported, earlier this month the company opened new downtown duty free stores in Xiamen on China’s southeast coast and Qingdao in the southeast of Shandong Province. It also added new stores in Hainan Island in January: Haikou Riyue Plaza Duty Free Shop and Qionghai Bo’ao Duty Free Shop. These complement growth in the airport business, which will include Beijing Daxing International later this year.

The company said: “The resumption of the duty free shop operation in Dalian has further improved the commercial presence of CDFG in large domestic cities.

“In the future, CDFG will rely on the strong tourism industry resources of its parent company, firmly grasp the ‘One Belt, One Road’ strategic initiative and the opportunities brought about by the vigorous development of domestic and overseas tourism.”
