China Duty Free Group celebrates successful inaugural fashion season event

CHINA. China Duty Free Group (CDFG) celebrates the culmination of its first-ever fashion season event tomorrow (31 July).

The month-long high-profile campaign, which saw extended brand cooperation across the increasingly important and fast-growing fashion sector, was themed ‘Your Exclusive Summer Fashion Pass’.

The event featured an impressive line-up of 1,000 products from 20 highly supportive fashion brands, including Coach, MCM, Tory Burch and others.

To add allure, the event was held simultaneously within CDFG stores at the Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex, Haikou Meilan International Airport and Haikou Riyue Square to create a vibrant fashion carnival atmosphere.

During the fashion season, CDFG held a variety of activities including lucky draws, promotional vouchers and pop-ups. It also set up a series of ‘check-in spots’ inside the store: Shoppers are encouraged to visit these charmingly decorated spots, snap social media-worthy pictures there and ‘unlock’ the latest beauty trends.

In addition, CDFG selected a variety of brand gifts from France and Italy as event courtesies for shoppers. The world number one travel retailer committed to selecting the highest-quality products to bring consumers fashion experiences that they can enjoy at any time.

The launch of CDFG’s first fashion season reflects the company’s continuous deepening of cooperation with brands and a new push into the field of fashion and luxury boutiques.

As the world’s leading duty free retailer by sales [Source: Moodie Davitt Report Top 25 Travel Retailers 2020], CDFG said that it has steadily strengthened its capabilities across procurement, operations, digitalisation and marketing, while expanding into new channels,  following many years of international competition and development.

CDFG noted that it has co-operated closely with global partners to promote a transformation and upgrading of consumer consumption.

With the development and advancement of the Hainan Free Trade Port programme, the trend of upgraded consumption continues to deepen, the retailer noted.

CDFG has also begun to focus on the integration of its various Hainan duty free business to create a one-stop consumer experience.

For example, during this fashion event season, the CDFG downtown stores in Sanya and Haikou and the Hainan Meilan International Airport Duty Free Shop all featured several well-designed summer leisure ‘check-in spots’ and rest areas to provide consumers with the latest trends and refined services.

Among them, an interactive wall featuring sequined installations attracted many consumers and tourists to stop and take photos, something that proved particularly popular among parents and children.

By offering a wealth of shopping privileges and promotions to consumers and continuously deepening its cooperation with brands, CDFG said that it is working hard to strengthen its quality and range of services in Hainan and expand the market.

With its first-mover advantage, CDFG said that it has established strong cooperative relationships with over 1,000 well-known brands around the world and that the expansion of its brand-rich range continues to accelerate.

CDFG said that it had seized the opportunity offered by Hainan’s enhanced offshore duty free shopping policy to improve the quality and range of its consumer services. It has achieved this by rapidly expanding its retail space; adding new category specialty stores; boosting the number of pick-up points; launching a range of promotional activities; and developing a successful home-delivery programme.

In the future, backed by strong support from its parent company, China Tourism Group, CDFG pledged to continue strengthening communication with global brands and industry partners. The group said that it will provide consumers with better products and prices and a comprehensive range of services through multi-dimensional cooperation.

Simultaneously, CDFG will steadily advance its international development strategy and promote a sustained and vigorous development of China’s travel retail market through cooperation and innovation, it said.
