Charming Cat has designs on Carlucci – 22/06/06

The silver-plated Carlo hearts and crosses charm bracelet is selling well onboard Singapore Airlines

UK. Zero Group launched a new jewellery brand at the TFWA Asia Pacific show last month. Carlucci comprises 925 sterling silver jewellery retailing at between US$35 and US$110.

Zero Group’s Cat Design division offers the lower-priced Carlo jewellery brand. “In terms of price points, Carlucci cuts in where the Carlo brand finishes,” explained Zero Group’s Howard Amor.

Speaking on the final day of the Singapore show, Amor enthused: “We’ve seen huge acceptance of the new Carlucci line. People like it and can afford it.”

Zero Group has already achieved a listing in seven Chinese airports for Carlucci.

In other news, Cat Design has added to its 190 airline listings with new jewellery business onboard Singapore Airlines.

From May, the UK jewellery supplier began selling a Carlo Gioielliere charm bracelet in the Singapore flag carrier’s KrisShop inflight catalogue. The crosses and hearts charm bracelet comes with a free bracelet and is exclusive to Singapore Airlines.

In the first 12 days of trading the airline sold 559 pieces, revealed Cat Design Director International Sales and Marketing Richard Thorpe.

The silver-plated bracelet retails at US$29 onboard.

“We’re doing very well overall on charm bracelets,” he told The Moodie Report during last month’s TFWA Asia Pacific show in Singapore. “We have a colourful charm bracelet onboard Dragonair which is also doing well and retails at US$26.”

Another popular item on Qatar Airlines is a Carlo Gioielliere cross pendant in square-cut cubic zirconia offered with a free ring, he said.

Cat Design has been traditionally strong in the inflight business but it started trading with Dubai Duty Free last year. Another major Middle East airport retail account is being negotiated, according to Thorpe, and discussions are under way for distribution in Chinese airports.

“Retailers are stocking more expensive brands, but a lot of people don’t have the money,” he added. “Our products are affordable, ranging from US$15 to US$40.”

Carlo Gioielliere jewellery is packaged in high quality gift boxes.
