CDFG wins Nanjing, Qingdao and Chengdu airport arrivals duty free contracts

CHINA. China Duty Free Group (CDFG) has been awarded three more arrivals duty free contracts at Chinese airports.cdfg logo 300 The concessions cover Chengdu Shuangliu International, Qingdao Liuting International and Nanjing Lukou International airports.

The awards continue CDFG’s strong run of success in the current round of arrivals shop tenders. China’s leading duty free retailer has already won the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Kunming Changshui International Airport contracts.

The latest awards follow the landmark news in February 2016, first revealed by The Moodie Davitt Report and its close Chinese associate Duty Free Expert, that central government had authorised bids for licences at 19 nominated inbound locations, including airports and seaports (note: the international airports in Beijing and Shanghai already offer Arrivals duty free).

As reported, China National Service Corporation for Chinese Personnel Working Abroad (CNSC) was awarded the contracts at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport.  Xi’an Xianyang International Airport awarded its arrivals contract to Shenzhen Duty Free.

As revealed by The Moodie Davitt Report, CDFG was also the top financial bidder for the duty free contract at Beijing Capital International Airport. The technical offers are still being evaluated before the final decision. As reported, the airport operator issued a dual tender notice covering its duty free retailing concessions at Terminals 2 and 3 on 24 February (currently run under a single contract by Sunrise Duty Free).

The two tenders were issued through Beijing World Trade Corporation, which Beijing Capital International Airport appointed as its bidding agent last year.

Awards are expected in late April or early May.
