Capturing the essence of two British icons: Aston Martin and Bowmore unveil DBX Bowmore Edition

The partnership between Aston Martin and Bowmore “creates timeless beauty and a lasting legacy” says Aston Martin Executive Vice President & Chief Creative Officer Mark Reichman

Famed British luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin and Beam Suntory-owned Islay single malt scotch whisky distillery Bowmore have revealed the second launch in a series of joint creations, the Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Edition.

The SUV was developed with an exclusive ‘Q by Aston Martin’ specification in celebration of the partnership between the two luxury British houses.

Only 18 of the special edition Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Editions will be built and delivered to VIP customers at a private lifestyle experience in Scotland. It is now available globally with deliveries scheduled for Q4 2021.

The striking SUV is painted in a shade called ‘Bowmore Blue,’ an archive colour brought back exclusively for the Bowmore DXB. Customers may also choose an alternative paint colour which includes the metallic flecked blue ‘Xenon Gray’ shade. To pay homage to the traditions of Bowmore, the SUV also features copper inlay accents, made with copper from original Bowmore whiskies.

Luxury and exclusivity: Only 18 special-edition Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Editions will be built

Customers can also choose to include black brake calipers that add subtlety to the smoked wheels. The overall lustre is further highlighted by script and wing Aston Martin badges and Q by Aston Martin fender badges.

For the interior, customers can select either the Obsidian Monotone or Copper Tan Metallic/Obsidian Duotone colour palettes. Both options feature accents of Bowmore Tweed, which nods to Bowmore’s Islay heritage. The copper and blue-toned tweed is crafted by the world-renowned Islay Woollen mill, which was first established in 1833.

All of the 18 Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Edition owners will be invited to an exclusive Aston Martin Art of Living experience in Scotland.

Both partners promise more exclusive products and experiences to follow from the collaboration

The experience begins in Edinburgh, where the VIP guests will be presented with their own Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Editions. They will then embark on a 170-mile road trip through the Scottish countryside, passing through breathtaking natural sites such as Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, before culminating their journey in Islay.

The experience continues with a luxury three-night stay in Islay which includes fine-dining experiences, a trip to the Islay Wool Mill and a private tour of the Bowmore Distillery.

During the tour, guests will also be able to hand-bottle their own 39yo Bowmore straight from the cask. They will also be granted exclusive access to the No. 1 Vaults’ oldest maturation warehouse in the cask.

The Aston Martin DBX SUV was launched in 2019. The five-seater SUV includes a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that delivers 550PS and 700Nm of torque. According to the brand, the SUV may not be a traditional Aston Martin sports car, but embodies all of house’s core values: beautiful, hand-built and technologically-advanced.

“Aston Martin DBX has provided the perfect canvas for the highest level of Q by Aston Martin customisation,” commented Aston Martin Executive Vice President & Chief Creative Officer Mark Reichman.

“The Aston Martin and Bowmore brands share the same vision of creating timeless beauty and a lasting legacy, loyal to their heritage but also embracing new methods and this is reflected in the DBX Bowmore edition.

“Strips from the copper whiskey stills are inlayed into the side strakes and Bowmore Tweed accents the interior, Q by Aston Martin has once again created a beautiful, limited edition Aston Martin.”

Beam Suntory Global Managing Director of Scotch Francois Bazini added, “Our partnership with Aston Martin continues to be an exciting and enthralling collaboration and the unveiling of this special edition Bowmore DBX is another exciting step on our collective journey.”

Customers can customise their Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Editions with either the Bowmore Blue or Xenon Gray exterior colour or the Obsidian Monotone or Copper Tan Metallic/Obsidian Duotone interior

Bazini said that while the two brand houses specialise in completely different products, their shared values add synergy to the incredible partnership.

He commented: “We cannot wait to welcome each of the owners of this beautiful car to our distillery on Islay and show them all that Bowmore and our island home have to offer. Although we make entirely different products, our shared values and passion are very much aligned so you can expect more exciting announcements in the future.”

As reported, Aston Martin and Bowmore struck a partnership late last year to create a range of exclusive products and experiences. The first release was an ultra-limited-edition Islay single malt called Black Bowmore DB5 1964, which will sell for £50,000 (US$65,600) a bottle. The liquid brings together an exceptional single malt and a genuine piston from the Aston Martin DB5. According to the partners, further luxury products and experiences will follow.

The Moodie Davitt Report is tracking the partnership closely and will provide special coverage of the evolving relationship through 2021.

All 18 owners of the Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Editions will be invited on a special private lifestyle experience in Scotland where they will receive their vehicles and embark on a 170-mile journey to Islay
