Brisbane Airport raises glasses to celebrate the promise of 2016

AUSTRALIA. Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has celebrated the completion of its international terminal and looked ahead to further development in a Raise Glasses event on 4 February.

The evening reception in the airport’s International Terminal brought together some 400 of BAC’s aviation, retail, business, tourism and government partners.

Julieanne Alroe, BAC CEO and Managing Director, emphasised the key role that Brisbane Airport plays in tourism development as she spoke to the assembled guests.

“Every single one of the more than three billion dollars we expect to spend over the next decade is a dollar spent building the tourism industry.

“Our new runway, no small investment, and our terminal developments will provide the growth capacity that will underpin domestic and international tourism growth for the next 50 years.

“We are gathering partners to find new and innovative ways to encourage travel into Brisbane and onto the Gold and Sunshine coasts, the Tropical North and the Whitsundays.

“Over the next few years you will see us playing an even more visible role in generating tourism business for every part of Queensland.

“Every new service into Brisbane is a win for Queensland. And we intend to win.”

As reported, Brisbane Airport completed its major International Terminal redevelopment last October, and is embarking on an innovative recdevelopment of its Domestic Terminal.
