Bengaluru International Airport aims to enhance traveller experience with BLR Pulse platform

The new app aims to add convenience to the airport experience through real-time information and services

INDIA. Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has teamed up with GrayMatter Software Services to create a consumer-focused omnichannel platform called BLR Pulse.

The mobile app is designed to provide a smoother travel experience to passengers by offering them personalised airport information, including about retail and dining. A ‘WayFinder’ feature allows them to navigate the terminal buildings and take control of their journey at departures and arrivals by providing essential information in real time.

BLR Pulse is a single-source solution for passengers, delivering updates on various passenger processing touchpoints, including entry gates, check-in counters and security check areas. It also sends flight status updates directly to passengers’ mobile or email inboxes.

The app also allows passengers to book a transit hotel or complete last-minute flight check-in.

Additionally, it can also be used to reserve a table at restaurants, order and collect food or have it delivered to the gate, and to receive updates on relevant offers from retail stores and F&B outlets.

Through the platform, passengers can identify and claim lost items and access high-speed WiFi that reconnects them automatically the next time they arrive to the airport.

It also offers information on ground transportation services options or details on parking.

The interactive chatbot feature in the app enables a self-sufficient mode of finding answers to various questions, and this will be further curated over time, the airport company noted.

Bangalore International Airport Ltd Managing Director and CEO Hari Marar said: “Travelling through BLR Airport gets more seamless with the BLR Pulse app. The objective is to help passengers plan their travel on the go even before they reach the airport. We value our passengers’ time and needs, and hence this app comes as a one-tap solution.

“Through BLR Pulse, we are connecting the physical and digital worlds to create a phygital environment that will provide passengers and visitors with a unique interactive experience. Passenger experience is at the core of our business, and every product that we launch is to enhance their comfort and support their needs through every aspect of their journey through the airport.”

The app delivers real-time information on airport queues at various touchpoints, allowing passengers to save time

GrayMatter Software Services CEO Vikas Gupta added: “As a young company providing innovative products for airports, we are honoured to partner with BIAL to create BLR Pulse.

“With the growing trend of airports becoming digital marketplaces, offering a digital travel companion to showcase the vast array of services available and hyper-personalise user experience will undoubtedly benefit both airports and their passengers.”

Throughout this year, BLR Pulse plans to roll out features to allow passengers to more conveniently pre-order duty free products, reserve a cab and book flights, rooms at the transit hotel, lounges, parking spots and more.

According to BIAL, the app’s omnichannel operations management system will use real-time information about their location, time and purpose to provide personalised recommendations that engage and influence passengers.

BLR Pulse utilises indoor positioning, passenger flow data, travel document management, IoT, and data insights to integrate systems and services seamlessly. The app is built around a single-cart capability that enables a single payment for all purchases across varied categories, powered by a unified payment gateway. ✈
