Bassam Al Wardi named CEO and Board Director at Bahrain Duty Free

Bassam Al Wardi: Promoted to CEO and a Board Director after the past four years as General Manager

BAHRAIN. Bassam Al Wardi, formerly General Manager of Bahrain Duty Free, has been named CEO and Board Director at the travel retail company as it prepares to make the transition to a new terminal on 28 January.

Al Wardi first joined the company in 1998, heading HR & Marketing for around ten years before leaving to pursue other roles. He rejoined in December 2012 as Deputy General Manager, becoming General Manager in September 2016.

As reported, Bahrain Duty Free has pledged to deliver a “world class shopping experience” at the new facility, where it will run core category duty free and airside speciality retail stores.

From its current 1,600sq m the retailer will occupy 4,700sq m of space, offering an opportunity to better showcase the major categories, and for brands to deliver premium and impactful presentation of their products.

The retailer is also beginning a new journey as anchor retailer at the location in joint venture with the airport. As reported previously, Gulf Air Group Holding (parent company of the airport and national airline) and Bahrain Duty Free Shop Complex (BDFS) signed a joint venture agreement in 2018 governing the core duty free shopping offer.

ARI-Middle East, which manages Bahrain Duty Free, recently saluted the efforts of its teams in preparing the space at the new terminal, as reported.

We will bring you a preview of the new Bahrain Duty Free offer shortly.
