As one Virtual Travel Retail Expo draws to a close, another one beckons – all eyes turn to Summit of the Americas

AMERICAS. With the hugely successful Moodie Davitt Virtual Travel Retail Expo drawing to an official close today – following a one-month bonus ‘encore’ showcase after the 12-16 October live show – attention now moves to the next major exhibition on the travel retail calendar, this time in the Americas.

As reported, the 2021 Summit of the Americas – A Virtual Experience will be held on 5-9 April 2021.

“We hope that we can count on your support of the 2021 Virtual Summit of the Americas, since revenue from this event contributes to our advocacy efforts on behalf of our members and the industry overall” – IAADFS President & CEO Michael Payne and ASUTIL Secretary General José Luis Donagaray

It is being organised by trade associations International Association of Airport and Duty Free Stores (IAADFS) and Asociación Sudamericana de Tiendas Libres (ASUTIL) in association with The Moodie Davitt Report. For 2021 only, and due to the COVID-19 crisis, the event replaces the traditional physical Summit which was scheduled to be held in Palm Beach, Florida next April.

The Summit will be open to airports and all other landlords from travel-related sectors; retailers, food & beverage operators and other commercial service providers; brands, agents & distributors; media; and other relevant parties.

In a joint message to the industry IAADFS President & CEO Michael Payne and ASUTIL Secretary General José Luis Donagaray said: “The 2021 Virtual Summit of the Americas, which we are hosting in association with The Moodie Davitt Report, will provide incredible opportunities for suppliers to connect with buyers from within the Americas and the Caribbean as well as beyond.

The Moodie Davitt Report has once again partnered with integrated design & communications agency FILTR, which will curate the event environment and virtual stands

“In addition to a virtual Exhibition Hub, the 2021 Virtual Summit will feature a Knowledge Hub where attendees can take advantage of relevant, engaging, and informative sessions. And the Experience Hub will allow suppliers to connect with buyers through a variety of virtual events such as product demonstrations, tastings, and virtual happy hours.

Unparalleled media coverage

The Moodie Davitt Report is the official media title of the 2021 Summit of the Americas – A Virtual Experience.

We will be producing a special digital edition that, uniquely, will be emailed to all exhibitors and registered visitors on the eve of the show.

All advertisers in that edition will receive a bonus advertisement in the Summit of the Americas Guide, a comprehensive aid to the event.

Other media titles will also be supporting the event. Official Preferred Media Partners will be able to showcase their publications in the Summit’s Press Centre (please contact IAADFS or ASUTIL for details) to ensure the widest possible visibility for the event and for exhibitors.

“The virtual Exhibition Hub offers you the tools to easily get your products in front of key buyers. There are several stand packages from which you can choose, offering you multiple options to display products, deliver brand and product presentations, offer virtual tours of your facilities and showrooms, and connect with buyers.

“Our colleagues at FILTR – The Moodie Davitt Report’s designated Virtual Stand & Experience Partner, will help you with the set-up of your virtual stand, and they can provide guidance to you if you choose to incorporate additional functionality or wish to create a more immersive 3D experience for your stand visitors.”

Attractive Early Bird rates

Special discounted pricing is on offer for ‘Early Bird’ stand bookings confirmed by Friday,18 December or booked by members of IAADFS and/or ASUTIL.

“For the 2021 Virtual Summit of the Americas, there is no registration fee for buyers to participate, which removes any barriers to a buyer’s participation in the 2021 event. We have already secured commitments from key buyer companies to support the 2021 Virtual Summit, and we are also in discussions with other duty free and travel retail-related associations to offer them the opportunity for their buyers to participate, which we expect to further increase buyer participation for our Virtual Summit in April,” the associations said.

“Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020, the duty free and travel retail industry has been through an incredibly difficult time. IAADFS and ASUTIL have been working diligently to push for relief for our industry, and we hope that we can count on your support of the 2021 Virtual Summit of the Americas, since revenue from this event contributes to our advocacy efforts on behalf of our members and the industry overall.”
