SPAIN. Areas, the international catering arm of Elior Group, has been awarded an eight-year contract to open seven new establishments at Malaga Airport.

Areas already manages two outlets at Malaga, which is the fourth-busiest airport in Spain, handling 18.6 million passengers each year.

The new catering venues will include three from Carte d’Or, an ice cream specialist; two from MasQMenos, which focuses on beer, Spanish ham and tapas; and premium sushi bar Kirei, overseen by renowned chef Ricardo Sanz.

Luxury sushi bar Kirei is just one of seven new eateries that Areas is bringing to Malaga Airport. Others will offer everything from Spanish ham and tapas to speciality ice creams.

The final addition is BiBo Flamenco Bar&Tapas, the latest outpost of two Michelin-starred chef Dani García’s Bibo chain, which focuses on “pure innovation and quality ingredients”.

Areas Worldwide CEO Oscar Vela said: “The Areas team couldn’t be happier to have been awarded this contract. We presented a balanced proposal that included both nationally and internationally famous brands.

“We are very proud of our new collaboration with Dani García, a chef of international standing who will delight travellers stopping in Malaga. We want this airport to be a culinary reference where passengers leave with memories of tasty food.”
