Areas captures F&B contract worth US$200 million at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport

USA. Global travel hospitality company Areas has been awarded a ten-year contract to operate seven additional food & beverage locations at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. They are expected to generate revenues of more than US$200 million over the concession period.

The new venues at Atlanta  – the world’s busiest travel hub with more than 100 million annual passengers – cover more than 10,000sq m. They add to the 13 units already operated by Areas at the airport, which the company entered in 2013.

Areas’ new offer will focus on a local-flavoured brand proposition and will include concepts such as gourmet markets Duffs Market and Citizens Culinary Market; local concept Johnnys Chicken and Waffles; the Old Fourth Distillery; ATL Community Market and On Your Way stores; and a Starbucks.

The new concepts will be developed from late 2024.

Areas CEO Oscar Vela said: “With this contract at Atlanta International Airport, along with the latest ones at San Diego and Houston William P. Hobby airports, we reaffirm our strong focus on international business, which already represents 80% of our revenues.

“Our roadmap indicates that we will continue to consolidate our leadership in Europe and grow in the United States, as is demonstrated by the last major tenders won in this country since the beginning of this year.”

Areas has been present in the US since 2006 and with the new concessions now manages around 145 points of sale across ten airports and 13 travel plazas.

The US territory currently represents almost 15% of Areas’ global turnover and is the company’s third biggest market after France and Iberia (Spain and Portugal). ✈️
