ASIA PACIFIC. Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA) President Sunil Tuli has issued a passionate industry rallying call to potential attendees of two key events at next week’s Moodie Davitt Virtual Travel Retail Expo (12-16 October 2020).

On Monday 12 October at 17:15 Singapore time (UTC 09.30am/BST 10.30am) in the keynote speech ‘Crisis as an Agent of Positive Change’, Tuli himself will address the global Expo audience. He will share how APTRA is actively campaigning to promote and safeguard the industry’s important economic role in Asia Pacific, as a sector providing over 320,000 jobs and a contribution of US$43.4 billion to GDP.
The following day, Tuesday 13 October, at 17:30 (SGT), an APTRA Exchange event will bring together key industry executives to discuss and debate ‘The Trinity Through a Crisis’.
Moderated by Kevin Zajax, CEO of Ground Control Global, the panel will feature Julia Bauer (Regional Manager, APAC, Imperial Brands); Philip Eckles (Chief Executive Officer, Delhi Duty Free); Erin Lillis (Travel Retail Director, Asia Pacific, Lacoste); and Lucy Thomas (Head of Retail, Auckland International Airport).
This powerful line-up will voice the current actions and development of future strategies from key travel retail stakeholders – brands, landlords, retailers and suppliers.
“This is an unprecedented human and commercial crisis that needs a correspondingly new level of innovative thinking in our industry’s response” – Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association President Sunil Tuli
Explaining APTRA’s approach, Tuli said: “This is an unprecedented human and commercial crisis that needs a correspondingly new level of innovative thinking in our industry’s response.
“APTRA wants to drive new thinking to galvanise that response across the whole industry. Cooperation and true partnership among key stakeholders in the Trinity are the most vital factors in determining the road to recovery and, crucially, how we shape and future-proof the sustainability of travel retail as a vibrant and essential retail sector in Asia Pacific.
He added: “We encourage all APTRA members and anyone with an interest in travel retail in Asia Pacific to join us as we discuss and explore essential strategies towards recovery.”
The events are free to access and pre-registration is open through the following links.
