Anthon Berg adds single malt whisky flavours to its confectionery line-up

Danish chocolate specialist Anthon Berg has teamed up with five renowned Scotch whisky brands to create The Single Malt Scotch Collection. The chocolatier is also adding a single malt flavour to its marzipan line-up. Both products target gifting, sharing and self-consumption and will be launched in travel retail on 15 March 2019.

Presenting the ‘crown jewels of whiskies’: Anthon Berg offers a new take on chocolate and spirit pairing.

The 235g pack contains 15 pieces with whisky flavours ranging from smooth and “pleasurably warming” to peat-smoky and dry.

The Single Malt Scotch Collection includes the following Diageo single malts: The Singleton of Dufftown 12yo (40%ABV); Dalwhinnie 15yo (43%ABV); Oban 14yo (43%); Talisker 10yo (45.8%) and Lagavulin (43%).

The range is presented in a dark grey box with foil gold writing and miniature whisky brand labels on the front. Inside, a map of Scotland offers the consumer a ‘tasting tour’.

Combing two of the Nordic region’s favourite flavours: Marzipan and Scotch single malt whisky.

The brand noted that whisky is the biggest-selling spirits category worldwide. The product taps into current trends and Anthon Berg said that the range presents the “crown jewels of whiskies”.

Anthon Berg International Senior Brand Manager André Haunsø Kampmann said: “By launching the Single Malt Scotch Collection we are speaking directly to the consumer who wants not only a high-quality product, but is seeking to engage in a unique product experience.”

Anthon Berg Travel Retail Director Peter Dige commented: “Our liqueur-filled chocolate bottles are driving sales better than ever in travel retail, and the forecasts show no sign of that curve breaking. With every line extension and new product launch, sales have settled on top of existing sales. Also with this new launch, we expect to see a rising sales curve as travel retail figures on single malt whisky speak for themselves.”

Anthon Berg’s marzipan line includes Original, Nougat and Cognac flavours. Its latest extension Marzipan – Single Malt (280g) offers seven individually-wrapped bars.Kampmann commented: “With the Marzipan Bar Single Malt Whisky we combine two favourites from the far North – the Nordic marzipan and the Scottish icon single malt whisky.”

Dige added: “Our Marzipan Bar product line is a bestseller in our Nordic home region, and as the Nordic food trend has spread to a worldwide phenomenon we see the popularity of our marzipan products growing outside the Nordic markets. We expect the Marzipan Bar – Single Malt Whisky to do the job and knock on the doors of other regions, where the product is not yet listed.”
