ANA launches tender for joint venture duty free and duty paid operations across eight Portuguese airports

PORTUGAL. ANA Aeroportos de Portugal (ANA), a VINCI Airports group company, today issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the joint venture management of duty free and duty paid stores across eight airports.

The winning bidder will be invited to set up a new company with ANA for the joint management of duty free, duty paid and luxury stores at Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon); Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (Porto); Faro Airport; Madeira Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo; Porto Santo Airport; João Paulo II Airport (Ponta Delgada – Azores); Santa Maria Airport (Santa Maria – Azores) and Horta Airport (Horta – Azores).

Applications must be submitted by 5:00 pm on the 30th continuous day after the publication today of the notice.

The structure retains VINCI Airport’s belief in and commitment to shared ownership of its retail activities in Portugal. In July 2017 the airport group finalised the acquisition of 51% of the share capital of Lojas Francas Portugal (LFP), Portugal’s airport retail leader.

VINCI bought the controlling stake from TAG GER, a subsidiary of national airline TAP. The remaining 49% of LFP’s capital is held by Dufry Group.

Categories include perfumes and cosmetics, chocolates, international and local beverages, food and delicatessen, fashion, and accessories.

The concession scope embraces over 34 commercial spaces, including duty free anchor stores, satellite shops and fashion & beauty stores. The new joint venture will manage a total area of approximately 9,500sq sm over a seven-year term.

ANA said that it is looking for a business partner recognised for its experience in managing duty free stores, with whom the company wishes to develop a “remarkable” shopping environment across its airport network . That environment and offer will be in line with the priorities of VINCI Airports as follows:

  • Authenticity: VINCI Airports aims to create authentic retail experiences, inspired by the uniqueness of Portugal, blending local tastes and flavours with a wide range of international products to cater to all passengers’ needs.
  • Sustainability: Protecting the world for future generations is a key objective for VINCI Airports and ANA, “meaning we strongly value the focus on sustainability and environmental protection at our operations”, the company said.
