‘An immersive, memorable fragrance experience’ – Dufry opens first Haute Parfumerie concept store at Zurich Airport

SWITZERLAND. Leading travel retailer Dufry has launched its new Haute Parfumerie concept at Zurich Airport, with an opening ceremony on 24 May. The 80sq m luxury space in Level 2 departures showcases a range of premium and sought after fragrances, introduced to meet consumer interest in luxury and exclusivity in the category.

The store design (developed by The Design Solution) takes inspiration from the shape of the bell glass, which often features as part of the fragrance creation process. Arched wall bays, window frames and store furniture echo the curved silhouette of the glass, while bell jars displaying different fragrance note ingredients are placed throughout the store.

The collection of brands includes Acqua di Parma, Creed, Diptyque, Amouage, Parfums de Marly and Penhaligon’s, alongside other sought after names such as Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Initio Parfums Privés, Tiziana Terenzi, Serge Lutens, Vilhelm Parfumeries, Ella K and Off White, among others.

The store design takes cues from the bell glass, which features as part of the fragrance-making process. The offer features many highly sought after niche fragrance brands.

Commenting on the Haute Parfumerie concept, Dufry Head of Beauty for EMEA Romina Gabarró, said, “We are seeing continued and significant customer interest in premium, rare and exclusive fragrances and the creation of this Haute Parfumerie concept store is our response to this growing sector.

“The luxurious store space, combined with engaging and interactive technologies – all underpinned with expert and knowledgeable staff – really takes the fragrance discovery experience to another level. We are extremely proud to be able to launch this first Haute Parfumerie store today here in Zurich and are confident it will be a great success.”

To help customers discover the right fragrance for themselves or as a gift, a multi-sensory phygital ‘Fragrance PlayTable’ based on the seven fragrance note families is located at the heart of the store. It was developed jointly with fragrance & beauty group Puig.

Customers can choose to browse using brand names they are already familiar with and receive suggestions of fragrances they or others might like on screen. They can also be guided by selecting their preferred aromas within the main seven fragrance families – woody, floral, oriental, aromatic, leather, citrus and chypre.

Customers can select the type of scent that best suits them using a new multi-sensory tool complemented by the skills of in-store staff

Dufry Global Director for Beauty Antonin Carreau commented, “As a leading global travel experience player, Dufry is committed to offering our customers exciting and innovative retail concepts and product assortments, particularly in this category where we see a strong level of interest in luxury and more niche fragrances.

“With the development of this impressive Haute Parfumerie concept, our aim was to deliver an immersive, memorable and unique fragrance experience for our customers and that has certainly been achieved here today. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our partners at Zurich Airport for their valued support and great enthusiasm for this project. This store is the first of several to come worldwide, in locations such as Heathrow T3, Vancouver, Antalya T1 and Istanbul.”

Zurich Airport Head Commercial Centers Heidi Köpple said, “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to work in close partnership with Dufry, and support them with the introduction of their first Haute Parfumerie store in travel retail. Zurich Airport is committed to delivering the very best shopping experience for the many travellers that visit our airport each and every day, and this new retail concept takes the whole experience of discovering and purchasing fragrance to a totally different level.” ✈
