“An extraordinary show of colours, lights and sounds”: Baltona opens flagship duty free store at Warsaw Chopin

POLAND. Baltona has opened its flagship duty free store at Warsaw Chopin Airport.

The 1,200sq m Multistore Baltona is the largest of 14 stores to be operated by the retailer at the airport (including four duty free units), in a total area of almost 3,000sq m.

The new duty free store is located just after security and features extended multimedia use to create what the company said was “an extraordinary show of colours, lights and sounds”.

The store ceiling consists of up to 1,500 decorative elements that complement the content displayed on LED signs and individual screens, Baltona said.

The product offer encompasses the usual range of duty free store categories, and will be systematically expanded, according to Baltona.

Highlights include a stand dedicated to Polish Żubrówka, which also tells the story of the origins of the spirit.

“We care about building positive experiences for passengers,” said Baltona President of the Management Board Piotr Kazimierski. “When implementing this investment, we focused on the highest quality. We have employed the best specialists from Poland and abroad to work on the project.

“Finishing elements have been imported from Italy, Spain, Germany, France and the USA. The store looks impressive today, although the key surprises are left for the grand opening of the entire investment, which will take place in the spring.”

Kazimierski said Baltona’s investment at Chopin Airport represented a new approach to communication with the client. “We focused on modernity. Screens, in addition to the decorative function, will inform passengers about available brands and promotions. We have also prepared special thematic zones. The final result will be the outcome of our cooperation with brands. They have created new arrangements especially for our store.”

Baltona’s other store concepts at Warsaw Chopin include three boutiques offering clothing and accessories from global brands and domestic designers. One unit will be located in the airport’s new non-Schengen zone.

The retailer is also in the process of opening seven convenience stores offering newspapers, books and souvenirs from Poland.
