Amazon Just Walk Out technology debuts with Paradies Lagardère at Charlotte Douglas Airport

USA. Paradies Lagardère has introduced Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology for the first time at its new Goods Express@CLT outlet at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

The checkout-free retail experience is available at the store in the airport’s Atrium. The technology is designed to eliminate checkout lines, allowing customers to enjoy a frictionless shopping experience.

As previously reported, shoppers enter the store by inserting a credit card at the entry gate. The technology then detects what shoppers take from or return to the shelves in the store. When they have completed their shopping, they leave the store and their credit card will be charged only for the items they took.

“We are thrilled to deliver this impressive store powered by Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology to our partners at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport and their travellers,” said Gregg Paradies, President and CEO of Paradies Lagardère.

“As travel continues to strengthen in 2023, this technology provides an easy and satisfying experience for shoppers and helps expand on our ever-growing level of consumer innovation in the airport retail environment.”

A fast, frictionless experience is promised for shoppers at the new store

“We’re proud to provide a fast and convenient checkout-free experience for travellers using our Just Walk Out technology,” said Dilip Kumar, Vice President of AWS Applications. “Travellers at Charlotte’s Douglas International Airport can now experience the magic of taking what they need and leaving the store quickly. No waiting in line, no anxiety about getting to your gate on time.” ✈
