Airport Dimensions acquires sleep lounge specialist OnGround Hospitality

INTERNATIONAL. Airport Dimensions, a leading provider of lounge services, has announced the acquisition of OnGround Hospitality and the sleep lounge brand sleep ’n fly.

The move will expand Airport Dimensions’ range of airport products and services; the company is a division of travel experience and loyalty business Collinson.

Sleep ’n fly lounges are open at Dubai International (DXB) terminals 1 and 3, with plans for more to follow

In 2013, OnGround Hospitality opened its first airport sleep lounge, a concept through which it offers sleep pods and cabins on a pay-by-the-hour basis.

The sleep ’n fly lounges are currently available at Dubai International (DXB) terminals 1 and 3, with sleep pods also located within other third-party lounges under a separate pod-in-lounge concept. The first lounge outside the UAE will be launched in the near future at another major hub.

The combined company’s presence in the Middle East will be enhanced by the opening of lounges at Abu Dhabi Midfield Terminal (once completed), for which Airport Dimensions won the contract in January 2019. Airport Dimensions’ network spans 23 lounges at major airports across the USA and UK including Atlanta, Dallas Fort Worth, Gatwick and Heathrow, and brands The Club (US) and Club Aspire (UK).

The company offers sleep pods and cabins on a pay-by-the-hour basis, a popular concept among travellers in transit at major hubs such as DXB

OnGround Hospitality Managing Director Oliver Schulz said: “We’re delighted to be joining the Airport Dimensions family. We have had an established relationship with Collinson since 2017 and this latest deal represents the natural evolution of our growing partnership. We’re looking forward to working with our new colleagues to grow the sleep ’n fly brand internationally and continuing to bring first-class hospitality to travellers in the Gulf and beyond.”

Airport Dimensions Managing Director Errol McGlothan said: “OnGround Hospitality is a successful and well-established business. It’s a great fit for Airport Dimensions, as we share the same passion and vision for delivering outstanding customer experiences. We know passengers want more choice and exciting new products at the airport, and this, our first ‘non-traditional’ lounge concept, enables us to explore a wider range of experiences for our customers.

“We’re planning to expand sleep ’n fly at Dubai International and other global high-profile transit points while seeing many opportunities to incorporate this innovative concept into our future development plans.”
