Airport arrivals shopping to be extended in South Korea as tobacco added to the mix

SOUTH KOREA. Airport arrivals duty free shopping, first introduced at Incheon International Airport on 31 May, will be extended to other airports and seaport terminals, the government has confirmed, writes Min Yong Jung in Seoul, quoting official documentation.

An arrivals store is already under construction at Gimpo Airport in Seoul. In another key development, retailers will soon be able to sell tobacco – a vital omission from the initial range of categories permitted to be retailed on arrival.

The allowance will be set at ten packs, we can now confirm.

“We confirm that arrival duty free stores will be allowed to carry tobacco products starting February 2020,” Entas Duty Free CEO David Yu told The Moodie Davitt Report.
