CROATIA. SDA Croatia has opened its ‘next generation’ Aelia Duty Free store, plus The Fashion Place, at Zagreb Franjo Tuñman Airport’s new terminal. As reported, the terminal was officially opened last week. It is managed under a 30-year concession by a consortium led by Aéroports de Paris Management (ADP Management) and TAV Airports.

SDA (Société de Distribution Aéroportuaire) Croatia is a joint venture between Aéroports de Paris and Lagardère Travel Retail. The 542.5sq m Aelia Duty Free store is built on the retailer’s key principles of:

The Aelia Duty Free offer features more than 9,000 products, blending leading international and Croatian brands.

The retailer has created an area dedicated to Croatian goods named Sense of Place, said to be inspired by the city of Zagreb. Elements include motifs of national embroidery from St. Mark’s church or Šestinski umbrellas from the city market on the main square.

Sense of Place features three tasting areas led by wines, truffles and olive oils.

Among the local brand highlights are:

Kraš, a leading Croatian confectionery producer with a history of almost 100 years; its offer includes the popular brand Bajadera.

Aura: A family company that produces traditional products such as brandies, jams and other products made of wild herbs and wild fruits. These are picked in an ecologically clean environment on the slopes of the Ćićarija mountain. It is also a producer of liquor made with Istrian plant varieties such as Teran grapes, wild apple, olive and almond.

Aromatica: A producer of natural skincare using traditional recipes and organically-grown plants.

The offer also includes olive oils from Istria such as Buža, Istarska Bjelica or Žižolera. A highlight is Chiavalon, a high-quality olive oil with an intense taste and aroma of herbs. Within its range is award-winning Ex Alibis, ranked among the leading olive oils in the world.

The wine range is led by Dalmatian products such as Pošip, Plavac and Dingač, while Natura truffles are grown by a family business in Istria.

In beauty, leading brands include Chanel, Dior, Guerlain and Lancôme, as well as Benefit, SmashBox and Bare Minerals.

Confectionery houses leading brands Nestlé, Toblerone, Ferrero and M&Ms while Godiva is available in Croatia only in this shop.


The Fashion Place: A mix of sunglasses, jewellery, bags and other accessories from leading brands

The 75.5sq m Fashion Place & Accessories is the retailer’s latest luxury and lifestyle store. It features watch brands such as Tissot and Tag Heuer as well as sunglasses brands including Ray-Ban, Chloé, Tom Ford, Michael Kors, Maui Jim and Céline. Other key brands include Furla, Armani Jean, Swarovski and Pandora.
