ACI honours 2013 ASQ award winners in glittering ceremony at Lotte World

SOUTH KOREA. The recipients of Airports Council International’s (ACI) annual Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards for 2013 were honoured in a glittering ceremony this evening at Lotte World in Seoul.

The awards ceremony and gala dinner serve as the social highlight of the 2014 ACI World/Asia-Pacific Annual General Assembly Conference & Exhibition, which kicked off yesterday at the Coex Convention & Exhibition Center. The event is jointly organised by ACI World and ACI Asia-Pacific and hosted by Incheon International Airport.

Singapore Changi, Incheon International, Seoul Gimpo, Haikou Meilan International and Changchun Longjia International airports were the winners in their respective size categories.

Singapore Changi emerged top in the category for airports handling more than 40 million passengers a year, while Incheon International was the winner in the 25-40 million passengers category. Other winners included Seoul Gimpo (15-25 million), Haikou (5-15 million) and Changchun (2-5 million).

By region, the winners were Cape Town International (Africa), Incheon International (Asia Pacific), Moscow Sheremetyevo (Europe), Guayaquil (Latin America-Caribbean), Abu Dhabi International (Middle East) and Indianapolis (North America).

The annual ASQ Awards recognise and reward the best airports in the world according to ACI’s ASQ passenger satisfaction survey, which is based on passengers’ immediate appraisals from check-in through to departure at the gate at more than 285 airports. It represents passengers’ views on 34 key service indicators and, according to ACI, act as an objective and accurate indicator of the top-performing airports worldwide.

The ceremony also honoured recipients of the ACI Director General’s Roll of Excellence awards, which recognises airports that have ranked among the top five in ASQ for their category on at least five different occasions since 2006.
