The event theme is ‘Sales solve everything’ – ACI Europe said that with the average spend per passenger at Europe’s airports just €10.38 (based on m1nd-set data) the conference would seek to find ways to do better.

ACI Europe Director General Olivier Jankovec will present a state of the industry address, while Budapest Airport Head of Retail and Advertising and ACI Europe Commercial Forum President Patrick Bohl and ETRC (European Travel Retail Confederation) President and Dufry External Affairs Director Sarah Branquinho will offer welcome addresses.

Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur Chief Commercial Officer Filip Soete: “We are looking forward to having you here, in Nice, to exchange and inspire one another”

A working session looking at whether conversion rates and yields are performing “far below” expectations will feature Dufry Divisional Chief Executive Officer UK, Central and Eastern Europe Eugenio Andrades, Luxottica Group Head of Global Channels Francis Gros, m1nd-set CEO Peter Mohn, and Groupe ADP Executive Director, Director of Customer Division Laure Baume, who will share the secrets of Paris Airports’ success in outperforming the market in retail sales per passenger. Gatwick Airport Head of Retail Rachel Bulford will chair the session.

Other sessions will look at new centres of commercial excellence opening in 2017-20, whether food & beverage is the great hope for the future, and whether airports are doing enough to keep up with current trends.

The event is being hosted by Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur. Chief Commercial Officer Filip Soete said: “All of us – airport managing bodies, policy makers and industry leaders – know that airports are increasingly dependent on income from non-aeronautical services, but also that we must constantly innovate and surprise our passengers to win over an increasingly demanding clientele that is exposed to increasingly attractive offers online or onboard aircraft.

“We are therefore looking forward to having you here, in Nice, to exchange and inspire one another with innovative ideas and strategies, but also discover and learn so that we can develop our commercial revenues.”
