PHILIPPINES. Duty Free Philippines (DFP) is working towards a December 2017 soft opening of its new DFP Luxe downtown store – set to feature the most upscale travel retail offer and environment in the country’s history.
DFP says the 3,500sq m store, developed in partnership with Landmark Management Services, will provide a previously lacking luxury ambience for prestige beauty, fashion and luxury brands, plus a range of related categories.
The project is being led by DFP Chief Operating Officer Vicente Pelagio Angala as a spearhead of the retailer’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
“The Luxe shopping experience will be a first for the Philippines and its fast-developing capital city of Manila,” said DFP. “Our location is in the heart of the shopping and entertainment district and located close to the Mall of Asia and new 5- and 7-star luxury hotels and casinos.
“This project will define aspirational and luxury shopping in Manila and set the standard for Filipino and international tourists wherever they travel in Asia.”
The state-owned retailer, together with Chim Esteban’s Landmark Management Services, plans to introduce a powerful line-up of fashion and luxury names, several making their travel retail debut in the Philippines. The offer will be housed over two floors, integrated with a high-quality food & beverage proposition.

Reflecting the importance of the project to travel retail in the Philippines, The Moodie Davitt Report is producing a series of exclusive articles in the lead-up to the 2018 Grand Opening and celebrating DFP’s 30 anniversary.
December’s soft opening will focus on perfumes & cosmetics, wines and spirits, premium confectionery and some fashion brands.
