Bacardi has marked its 160th anniversary this month and celebrated achieving its 1,000th award in spirits industry competitions.
The popular rum brand described its milestone award collection as a “testament to its trailblazing influence and legacy”, adding that its “dedication to taste, quality, and innovation has shaped the industry as we know it today”.

Recognition and accolades for the company’s quality and production span over 140 years, dating back to the 1876 Philadelphia International Exposition, where the rum brand was rated alongside ‘revolutionary’ products such as the telephone and the Remington typewriter.
In 1888, Bacardi was appointed Purveyors of the Royal Spanish Household – ‘The King of Rums’ and ‘The Rum of Kings’ – which gave the brand permission to display the Spanish Coat of Arms on its label.
Bacardi Global Senior Vice President Ned Duggan said: “We’re proud to reach this monumental achievement, and the fact that it coincides with the 160th anniversary of Bacardi rum on 4 February makes it that much more meaningful.
“Our founder, Don Facundo Bacardí Massó, perfected his distillation process on that day in 1862 – which changed the course of rum distillation throughout the industry – so we really honour that day. As Bacardi continues to innovate, we’re really excited to enter our latest products into competitions for taste, quality, and design around the world.”
Duggan highlighted recent innovations including Bacardi Rum Canned Cocktails, Bacardi Spiced and Bacardi Reserva Ocho Sherry Cask Finish.
