ITALY. First-time TFWA Singapore exhibitor Belfe has big plans to enter the travel retail market: the high-end sportswear house is working on exclusive lines for the sector for next season.
Belfe produces two collections of chic, sporty fashion apparel and accessories for men and women: Belfe and the more upscale Post Card range, which is priced 20% higher than the main line.
Accessories include reptile and horsehair belts and shoes, while apparel items range from waterproof nylon zip-up windcheaters to butter-soft leather jackets. The firm pays painstaking attention to the quality of the fabrics used and to detailing, for example logos stamped on the zips.
“We plan to have a presence at airports and travel retail shops with our clothing and accessories,” said Belfe Board Member Stefano Festa Marzotto. “We are working on items exclusively for duty free and travel retail for next season. It is a good market and there are a lot of opportunities.”
As well as the home market in Italy, the brand sells well in the US, where department store outlets include Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue, and across Europe, where Harrods in the UK is a stockist. Belfe also has a presence in the summer resort of Capri and the ski slopes of St Moritz.
Belfe also manufactures sportswear and leather clothing for other top-end fashion labels, including Chanel.
