UK. With great sadness we report news of the death of Duncan Lawley at his home in the UK. His employer Aer Rianta International (ARI) released a short tribute statement today, saying that he passed away surrounded by close family.
Lawley worked with ARI as Managing Director Delhi Duty Free Services from 2013 to early 2016. Before that, he was General Manager of CTC-ARI, overseeing ARI’s retail operations at both Larnaca and Paphos airports.
A well-respected industry figure, Lawley enjoyed a long and successful career in travel retail beginning in the 1980s. He went on to hold a number of senior positions with The Nuance Group, World Duty Free, WHSmith and latterly ARI at international locations.
ARI CEO Jack MacGowan said: “Duncan will be remembered with great fondness by everyone at ARI and his many industry friends for his warmth, good humour and professionalism.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Helle, his children Alexandria, Rosie, Esther and Oscar and his extended family and friends at this sad time.”
