Capi wins Helsinki Airport consumer technology tender

FINLAND. Travel retail consumer technology specialist Capi has won the tender for a 71sq m electronics store at Helsinki Airport. The store, in the Terminal 2 Schengen airside zone, opens in May.

The new concession marks Capi’s continued expansion in the Nordic region, where it has a presence at Helsinki, Oslo, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Copenhagen airports.

The concession award cements Capi’s presence in the Nordic region, where it now operates at Helsinki, Oslo, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Copenhagen airports

“We are delighted that Helsinki Airport has awarded us this exciting location,” said Royal Capi-Lux Managing Director Peter Wiggers. “Helsinki Airport is an important hub airport in Northern Europe and this shop allows us to further strengthen our position in the Nordics. We are pleased to be part again of this trendsetting airport and we look forward to contributing to the overall airport experience.”

Helsinki Airport Vice President of Commercial Services Elena Stenholm said: “We are very excited about Capi arriving to Helsinki Airport. Electronics store is a new and needed addition to the airport’s overall service offer. As Helsinki Airport is being expanded and developed in many ways and passenger volumes are constantly on the rise, we are sure Capi will find this a lucrative and fruitful place for doing business.”

The product offering will consist of leading ‘A’ brands, premium brands and Capi’s private brand Mitone. This offering will be frequently refreshed, noted the retailer. Capi added: “Thanks to the company’s excellent relationship with its suppliers, travellers at Helsinki Airport will also benefit from early product releases.”

B&S-owned Capi said it was “committed to creating globally recognisable electronics stores with a local flavour that fits each specific airport. That is why the Helsinki store will contain a local heritage picture behind the counter and Capi’s brand portfolio will include Scandinavian brands like Hasselblad and B&O.

“Furthermore, the Capi lifestyle stores are designed to be equally attractive to men and women. Products at Capi Helsinki will be visually promoted with less emphasis on pixels and specs, but more on experience.”
