Brandwatch: Our choice of the week’s most compelling brand stories

In the third edition of our new Brandwatch video series, we take a quick look at five of the week’s most compelling brand stories – a mix of product launches, Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and distribution gains.

We open with Burberry’s Snapchat Lens for its striking new female fragrance, My Burberry Black, and a related video campaign featuring Downton Abbey star Lily James as you’ve never seen her before.

If Ms James nearly bares it all, then so too do the male models for Swedish designer Panos Emporio’s new men’s swimwear concept ‘Meander’, set to be launched at TFWA World Exhibition in October. Panos Emporio Founder Panos Papadopoulos says the line’s unique design eliminates the problem of “zebra stripes”.

Our third featured brand wants to preserve, not eliminate, stripes. Tiger stripes that is. Brand founder, Indian entrepreneur Gautom Menon donates 10% of profits from newly launched Wild Tiger Special Reserve Rum to tiger conservation efforts in South India. The future of Indian tigers just became a lot more secure following the brand’s breakthrough listings in several key airport stores run by Flemingo International.

Corporate Social Responsibility also lies at the heart of MAC Cosmetics follow-up collection from American singer Ariana Grande – Viva Glam Ariana Grande 2. Impressively, 100% of the purchase price from every sale of MAC Viva Glam products goes towards the MAC AIDS Fund which, since its inauguration in 1994, has raised a staggering US$400 million.

We close out with a taste-bud tempting culinary journey down memory lane with Belgian chocolatier Neuhaus, which has created a ‘World’s Top Chefs’ range in association with nine outstanding exponents of the art of cooking. Each of the nine chefs has created a chocolate based on childhood memories. A tasteful launch in every sense.
