Artist Fausto Ortiz kicks off Davidoff’s Art in Lounges programme

The Davidoff Art Initiative (DAI) has selected Dominican artist Fausto Ortiz as the first artist to be featured in Davidoff lounges as part of the brand’s Art in Lounges programme.

According to Davidoff, the programme builds on the brand’s commitment to bring recognition and increased international visibility to art and artists of the Caribbean region by transforming spaces in Davidoff lounges worldwide into temporary art exhibitions.

The inaugural Art in Lounges project is in association with Centro de la Imagen de Santo Domingo, an organisation focusing on photography in the Dominican Republic.

Works of art included in the programme will also be on view in Davidoff stores globally and, for a limited time, available for purchase at Davidoff locations. Proceeds from these sales will be shared with the exhibiting artists, Davidoff stated.

The DAI was established in 2012 to support contemporary art and artists in the Caribbean, strengthen art organisations in the Dominican Republic, share knowledge and expertise about contemporary art, and foster cultural engagement between the Caribbean and the rest of the world. Other DAI programmes include Residencies, Grants, Dialogues, and Limited Art Editions.

Earlier this year DAI unveiled its second Limited Art Edition in New York.
