Commercial turnover reached CHF20.1 million (US$22.49 million) in May. Skewed by the comparison with May 2020, when air traffic reached a virtual standstill due to COVID-19, this was an increase of +156.7% compared to the figure of a year earlier.

Passenger traffic leapt by +927% to 450,500 also due to the comparison with the low in May last year. Compared to the corresponding month in 2019, passenger numbers were down by -83.4%.

As at many of its peer airports, average spend at Zürich (though from a modest traveller base) has remained high over recent months
