Zürich Airport commercial turnover up +2.2% in September but below passenger growth

SWITZERLAND. Zürich Airport turnover from retail and food & beverage was up +2.2% year-on-year in September to reach CHF52.5 million (US$53 million).

Within this, airside sales rose +2.7% while landside sales increased +1.5%.

Commercial growth was below the year-on-year rise in passenger traffic of +4.9%, to reach 2.88 million. Within this, intercontinental (long haul) traffic climbed by +11.5%.

Airside spend per departing passenger fell -2.1% to CHF22.60 (US$22.80).

In the first nine months of the year, commercial turnover increased by +3.9% to CHF448.2 million (US$452.4 million). Airside spend per departing passenger was CHF22.70 (US$38.99), a slight increase of +0.8% on the same period last year.
