Zürich Airport commercial turnover leaps in September

SWITZERLAND. Retail and food & beverage sales at Zürich Airport climbed by +4.9% year-on-year in September, to CHF48.9 million (US$49.4 million). Airside sales growth was a healthy +7.3% and landside sales grew by +1.5% in the month. The figures were buoyed by a +5.8% surge in passenger traffic to 2.6 million.

Against this, turnover per departing passenger hit CHF37.60 (US$38) in September, down by -0.9% on the same month last year.

In the first nine months, commercial turnover rose by +1.8% to CHF407.9 million (US$412.5 million), with airside sales up +2.9% and landside by a marginal +0.4%.

Spend per departing passenger was CHF39.10 (US$39.55), down by -2.3% year-on-year.

Due to the strong growth in traffic year to date, the airport company has revised its full-year passenger forecast upwards to +4% (from +3.5%).
