Year of the Dog: Johnnie Walker Blue Label unleashes Chinese New Year design

Diageo Global Travel’s latest Chinese New Year design for Johnnie Walker Blue Label whisky is a collaboration with multi-award winning Taiwanese artist Page Tsou.

The Year of the Dog limited edition, the fifth in the series, is inspired by the bond between man and dog. It is priced at £175/US$234 for a one-litre bottle.

In 2018, the design will follow the brand’s familiar Striding Man around the world as he celebrates with lanterns, fireworks, dancing dragons, together with the dog icon.

Commenting on his work for the biggest-selling spirits brand in travel retail (source: IWSR volume and value data 2016), Tsou said: “It is an honour to have been commissioned to create the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year of the Dog bottle. The design consists of four dogs all chosen for their special meaning in Asia. It also contains various symbols of wealth and prosperity, making this a perfect gift for Chinese New Year.”

Johnnie Walker Blue Label is a crafted by a small team of 12 expert whisky makers, led by two-time Master Blender of the Year, Jim Beveridge. Only one in 10,000 casks of the rare whiskies maturing in Johnnie Walker’s reserves is crafted to make Johnnie Walker Blue Label, said Diageo.
