Wuhan’s wow factor: New luxury area draws huge interest at key Chinese airport

Wuhan is the busiest airport in central China and the country’s 14th-busiest overall

CHINA. Wuhan Airport yesterday completed the opening of its full range of luxury and premium brand boutiques, including an Hour Passion (The Swatch Group) watches outlet, and top international names such as Swarovski and Estée Lauder.

The stores have been developed by Beijing Capital Airport Commercial and Trading Co (ACT). Wuhan is the busiest airport in central China and the country’s 14th-busiest, having handled over 11.6 million passengers last year. The airport is one of several owned by the Beijing Airports group, including flagship location Beijing Capital International. Commercial trading arm ACT drives commercial operations at the group’s airports. Since introducing a strong line-up of international brands at Beijing Capital International Airport’s spectacular Terminal 3, ACT has been progressively following a similar policy in other locations.

Earlier this month Ferragamo and L’Occitane boutiques were opened, the first phase of a 480sq m upscale retail offer located immediately post the security zone.

Today, ACT Market Development Director Foster Fu told The Moodie Report: “Yesterday the whole areas on both sides on the terminal opened. The opening really attracted the passengers’ attention and they could not resist the temptation to go in and buy. It is a sensational view, seen even before the passengers pass the security check.”
