World of Patria adds Sicilian company Inycon to its wine offer

Travel retail distributor World of Patria International (WOPI) has strengthened its wine portfolio with a new selection from Sicilian company Inycon. The wines will be presented at TFWA World Exhibition (Blue Village, G13).

Inycon is a premium wine range that takes its name from the ancient town of Menfi in Sicily. Terroir Inycon wines are produced by a local community of growers on vineyards in the southern and south western coast of Sicily, on hill slopes at 50-250 metres above sea level. The limestone and medium textured soils are said to be ideal for producing the Nero D’Avola red wine grapes while the clay and medium textured soils are suited to the white Fiano grapes.

The Fiano expression offers scents of peach, apricot and citrus and is balanced with hints of jasmine flowers and tomato leaf. The wine is said to provide a crispy and mineral taste which pairs well with seafood dishes, grilled artichokes and fresh cheeses.

The three Inycon wines, described as “unmistakably Mediterranean”, and a revamped Yellow Tail Sauvignon Blanc bottle (right) will be highlighted in Cannes

Nero d’Avola, described as smooth and velvety, has scents of black cherries, plums and mulberries. Recommended pairing foods include seasoned cheeses, lamb, fried vegetables and grilled steaks.

Pinot Grigio Blush combines the two grapes to produce a wine which offers notes of ripe pear, strawberry and cherry.

WOPI will also introduce a new-look for Yellow Tail Sauvignon Blanc in Cannes.

WOPI Managing Director Rob Nichols said: “Wines are an important sector within our portfolio and we are constantly looking for exciting new estates to offer buyers, both traditional and New World. Inycon wines are superb – traditional and unmistakably Mediterranean, they perfectly balance our current portfolio which also includes Oyster Bay, Blossom Hill, Beyers Kluf, Namaqua, Kanonkop, Leopards Leap, Hanging Houses of Cuenca and, of course, Yellow Tail. Yellow Tail is a consistent performer for WOPI and we love the new-look Sauvignon Blanc.”
