INTERNATIONAL. Women in Travel Retail (WiTR) is inviting members to nominate the group’s 2020 charity project.
2019 was the first year that members have nominated and voted for a charity to be supported by WiTR in networking and fundraising events throughout the year.
As reported, this year’s charity, Friends-International, was nominated by The Moodie Davitt Report; WiTR members and supporters raised nearly €19,000 to support the charity’s beauty training programme for young women.
Full details of the nomination criteria are available on the WiTR website.
The guiding principle, WiTR said, is that the chosen charity should support women or children, and that it is to raise funds for a specific identifiable project.
“The person who nominates the winning charity will be expected to assist WiTR with publicity and seeking out fundraising opportunities, and will need to help at the event during TFWA in Cannes, and be responsible for banking the money with the charity,” WiTR added.
Nominations are open until 13 December. The eligible projects will be profiled in the members’ section from 20 December 2019; voting closes on 16 January 2020, with the successful charity to be announced the following day.
