WHSmith captures Bahrain International Airport concession

BAHRAIN. WHSmith, in partnership with That Al Salasil, has been awarded the contract for two stores in the new terminal at Bahrain International Airport.

The stores, which are due to open in Autumn (along with the terminal), will be located landside and airside and offer a wide range of books and magazines, stationery, travel accessories and confectionery and drinks. There will also be a focus on Arabic books, drawing on the regional expertise of That Al Salasil.

Breaking new ground: How the WHSmith stores will look airside (above) and landside at the new terminal.

WH Smith also runs off-airport stores in Bahraini malls, including a 400sq m flagship store in The Avenues, a waterfront shopping centre situated along Bahrain Bay.

Bahrain will be the ninth airport where WH Smith is present in the Middle East, joining Doha, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Kuwait, Amman, Salalah and Dammam, with Riyadh to come soon.
