Walsh Whiskey – part of the Amber Beverage Group – has released the 2022 vintage Writers’ Tears Cask Strength, a super-premium expression.
This year’s vintage is limited to 7,920 bottles, with 2,100 of them destined for the USA. It is available in selected markets, including travel retail, with a recommended retail price of US$150.
The 12th edition features a blend of single pot still and single malt whiskey, triple distilled, natural non-chill filtered and aged in American oak bourbon barrels. With a 54.6% ABV, each bottle is numbered and carries the signature of Writers’ Tears Creator and Walsh Whiskey Co-founder Bernard Walsh.
Walsh said: “Consumers are looking to trade-up their Irish whiskey experience and this is a genuine super-premium expression that has steadily built a following internationally over the last 12 years.”
On the nose, 2022 Writers’ Tears Cask Strength offers notes of pear drops and candied fruits. Its taste is described as heather honey, fennel and cinnamon spice, with a creamy, chewy toffee finish.
