Walsh Whiskey names Peter Jacobson as winner of Writers’ Tears competition

Former Diageo Global Travel senior executive Peter Jacobson, who now runs his own consultancy, has won a Walsh Whiskey Virtual Travel Retail Expo draw for a bottle of Writers’ Tears Double Oak. The line was one of Whisky Advocate’s top ten new releases of 2019.

As reported, the Irish whiskey brand partnered with The Moodie Davitt Report during the ‘live’ 5-day event last week to test the literary knowledge of the travel retail sector for the chance to win this acclaimed whiskey.

It asked our readers to send in the name of a famous Irish writer from each of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, with a draw made at the end of the week to find a winner.

Writers’ Tears Double Oak by Walsh Whiskey: A rare blend of Irish whiskey styles finished in two types of wood

Writers’ Tears Double Oak is a blend of whiskeys aged in American and French Oak. Walsh Whiskey has described it as a “unique marriage” of aged single malt and single pot still Irish whiskies. On the nose it offers notes of vanilla, cinnamon, plum and poached pear, followed by pressed grapes and citrus zest, and a spicy finish with chocolate undertones.

Walsh Whiskey, a Silver Partner at the Virtual Travel Retail Expo, continues to showcase its products in the 30-day event encore. Click here for access to its virtual experience and for more details on its portfolio.
