Villars defies the downturn, says Bonardo – 14/09/09

A new box from the Swiss Specialities Collection called “Les Enfants” will be launched at the TFWA World Exhibition

SWITZERLAND. Swiss confectionery producer Villars Maître Chocolatier is performing well in 2009 despite the difficult trading climate, its travel retail representative Bonardo Travel Retail has reported.

Villars’ sales to duty free customers up to the end of June 2009 are level with the high performance achieved in 2008, and most operators are even doing better, said Bonardo Travel Retail Managing Director Alain Bonardo.

Since the beginning of 2009, Villars has registered new listings in airports and border shops in Argentina, Turkey, Cyprus and Malaysia. Additional listings, especially in Europe, Middle East and Asia, will be announced at the 2009 TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes.

The success of Villars in duty free is due to the high quality of the products, said Bonardo. “Villars has always relied on the best home produced ingredients and Swiss milk. As for the cocoa, Villars Chocolatier uses only those beans selected from the best lots from Ecuador or Ghana.”

Best-selling products are the range of 200g Gourmet bars with seven different flavours and the Napolitains assortment. Late last year, Villars launched a new 200g Dark Chocolate Gourmet Bar with 20% caramelised pecan nuts.

A new box from the Swiss Specialities Collection called “Les Enfants” will be launched at the 2009 TFWA Cannes show. This gift box contains 16 pieces of individually wrapped milk chocolate with a praline almond filling and 17 pieces of dark chocolate with a praline filling and wafer chips.

*Villars will be exhibiting on Bonardo Travel Retail’s stand at the 2009 TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes (Stand number: H29).
