Victorinox and Motta International open new store in Panama Tocumen Airport

The Victorinox back wall placement in Attenza Duty Free is housed in the third-largest dedicated watches space in Americas travel retail

PANAMA. Swiss lifestyle brand Victorinox has teamed up with Motta International to open a new point of sale in Panama Tocumen International Airport. The placement is located in the newly opened Attenza Duty Free store in Terminal 2.

The fully branded corner is located in what is claimed to be the third-largest dedicated travel retail watches space in the Americas. It offers Victorinox’s full watches portfolio and underlines the brand’s 100% Swiss-made quality.

The 1,000sq m-plus store opened in September. It offers more than 200 national and international brands from diverse categories such as fragrance, makeup, skincare, watches, sunglasses, wines, spirits and confectionery.

The store concept incorporates rich finishes, designed to create a unique environment and a sensory experience primed by striking visuals, aromas, flavours, and textures. Design is integrated with state-of-the-art technology, lighting and high-quality materials that showcase the brand line-up.

The T2 store complements a 134sq m Attenza Duty Free store dedicated to sunglasses and watches that opened in the same terminal last June

The opening deepens Victorinox and Motta International’s partnership. Their joint footprint now comprises 12 points-of-sale across airports in Panama, Colombia, El Salvador and Ecuador, with a strong focus on watches and travel gear.

In recent years, Victorinox and Motta International launched several joint pan-regional marketing initiatives to drive recovery and growth in the watches category. The partners recently launched a joint campaign which focuses on building buzz and awareness around the Victorinox I.N.O.X range. The campaign leverages Motta’s online/offline presence in Panama, Bogota, Quito, El Salvador and Nicaragua.

“Over the years Motta has been an instrumental travel retail partner for Victorinox in Latin America, pioneering many of our first category corners in the region,” commented Victorinox Sales Director Travel Retail & Cruise Ships Marcos Zobel. “The opening of our new watches corner in their fantastic new Attenza Duty Free store at Panama Tocumen is an important step in our partnership and will be instrumental in driving growth in our watch business.

“With further opportunities to explore, and huge potential to tell Victorinox’s multi-category story to travellers in the region, Motta will continue to be a strategic partner with whom we look forward to further collaboration.”

Motta International Luxury Division Commercial Vice President Roberto Perez added, “Having achieved a strong partnership with Victorinox  has enabled continued growth for the brand in the LATAM region. We are delighted to expand our presence with this new personalised space located in our most recent success story, the Attenza Duty Free flagship store.

“With this opening, we will reiterate our focus on consolidating Victorinox’s categories as a key part of our strategy. We look forward to conquering further expansion endeavours together.”
